The Rajasthan Chief Secretary examined the Detailed Project Report for the Bawal‑Behror stretch of the state's Regional Rapid Transit System, signalling progress on the planned high‑speed commuter link.

Rajasthan's top bureaucrat, the Chief Secretary, met officials on Thursday to scrutinise the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Bawal‑Behror segment of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). The review focused on alignment, cost estimates, land acquisition status and projected ridership for the 45‑kilometre stretch that will connect the industrial town of Bawal with the historic city of Behror.

The DPR outlines a high‑speed, double‑track corridor designed to cut travel time between the two towns to under 30 minutes, integrating with the broader RRTS network that aims to link major urban centres across the National Capital Region. State transport officials said the project is expected to boost regional commerce, reduce road congestion and promote sustainable mobility.

While the report is still pending final approval from the state cabinet, the Chief Secretary's endorsement is viewed as a key procedural step. Authorities anticipate tendering for civil works to commence early next year, subject to clearance from environmental and land‑acquisition agencies.
