The Rajasthan Board will conduct the Class 10 board exam twice a year, with a May‑June session allowing students to improve marks in up to three subjects, and the supplementary exam will be phased out from the 2026‑27 session.
The Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education announced that starting with the 2026-27 academic session, the Class 10 board examination will be held twice a year. The change replaces the existing single annual exam and eliminates the supplementary examination that was previously offered for students who failed.
Under the new "best of two" system, a second examination window will be opened in May‑June. Candidates will be permitted to re‑appear in up to three subjects, giving them a chance to either raise their scores or achieve a passing grade.
Board officials explained that the dual‑exam schedule aims to reduce the pressure of a single high‑stakes test and provide a more flexible pathway for academic improvement. The supplementary exam, which traditionally took place later in the year, will be discontinued once the new system is fully implemented.
The decision, reported by Amar Ujala, is expected to affect roughly half a million Class 10 students across Rajasthan, offering them additional opportunities to meet the required standards for promotion to higher secondary education.
