BJP leaders in Rajasthan criticised Congress over the dispute surrounding the publisher of Sonia Gandhi’s book, while Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat labelled it a matter between author and publisher and queried the Centre’s involvement.
The publication of Sonia Gandhi’s memoir has sparked a political row in Rajasthan after the identity of the book’s publisher became a point of contention. Congress officials defended the choice of publisher, arguing that the decision was purely literary and unrelated to any political agenda.
In response, senior BJP figures in the state launched a counter‑attack, accusing the Congress of attempting to politicise a private publishing matter. They urged the party to focus on governance rather than stirring controversy over a book.
Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat intervened, stating that the issue is strictly between the author and the publisher and should not involve the central government. He questioned why the Centre was being dragged into a dispute that, in his view, does not merit governmental attention.
