The Rajasthan government has launched a ₹1,500 crore "Prithvi" project to safeguard forests and wildlife, featuring AI‑based monitoring and the deployment of 291 ambulances for rapid response.
Jaipur, Oct 12 — The state cabinet approved a ₹1,500 crore initiative, named the Prithvi project, aimed at strengthening protection of Rajasthan's forests and wildlife. The scheme will install artificial‑intelligence driven surveillance systems across key reserves to detect illegal activities such as poaching and habitat encroachment in real time.
Under the same plan, 291 ambulances will be positioned strategically in forested districts to provide immediate medical assistance to injured wildlife, forest staff and visitors. Officials said the fleet will be equipped with GPS and communication tools to ensure swift coordination with veterinary teams.
The government expects the combined use of AI monitoring and rapid emergency response to curb wildlife mortality and improve overall ecosystem health. The project is slated to begin implementation in the coming weeks, with funding drawn from the state budget.
State wildlife officials will oversee the rollout, while the technology partner will handle installation and maintenance of the AI platforms. The initiative reflects Rajasthan's broader commitment to biodiversity conservation and aligns with national wildlife protection goals.
