The Rajasthan government has incorporated CAR‑T cell therapy into the state health scheme (RGHS), providing a maximum coverage of ₹30 lakh for eligible cancer patients and pensioners.

Rajasthan's health ministry announced that CAR‑T cell therapy, a cutting‑edge cancer treatment, will now be part of the Rajasthan Government Health Scheme (RGHS). The decision aims to broaden access to this advanced immunotherapy for residents of the state.
Eligible beneficiaries, including pensioners, can receive the treatment with a financial ceiling of Rs 30 lakh per patient. The package is intended to cover the high cost of the therapy, which has traditionally been available only in private specialty centers.
CAR‑T therapy involves extracting a patient’s T‑cells, genetically modifying them to recognise and destroy cancer cells, and reinfusing them. By integrating it into RGHS, the government hopes to make this personalized treatment affordable for a larger segment of the population.
Health officials said the scheme will be operational at designated hospitals soon, and patients will be able to apply through the existing RGHS enrollment process.
