Raipur and Bilaspur Named Model Cities in PRAGATI‑50 Initiative

The Government of Chhattisgarh has announced that its capital Raipur and the city of Bilaspur have been selected as two of the 50 model cities under the national PRAGATI‑50 programme.
India's flagship PRAGATI‑50 programme, launched to recognise and support cities that demonstrate exemplary governance and sustainable growth, has now named Raipur and Bilaspur as two of its 50 model cities.
The decision, announced by the state government, follows a rigorous assessment of urban performance indicators such as infrastructure, civic amenities and citizen engagement.
Being declared a model city is expected to unlock additional funding and technical assistance, helping Raipur and Bilaspur accelerate projects in transport, waste management and digital services.
Officials said the cities will be part of a pilot cohort that will showcase best practices for other municipalities across the country.
