The regional weather department has issued a forecast indicating rain and snowfall across Jammu and Kashmir beginning on October 13.
The Jammu & Kashmir Meteorological Department has warned that the state will experience a mixed spell of rain and snow from October 13, according to its latest forecast. The advisory covers most of the valley and higher altitude regions, where temperatures are expected to dip below freezing.
Meteorologists anticipate moderate to heavy rain in the lower plains, while the mountainous districts such as Poonch, Baramulla and Kupwara could see snowfall accumulating up to a few centimeters. The change in weather may affect road conditions, especially on the national highways linking Srinagar with the rest of the country.
Authorities have urged commuters to exercise caution, avoid non‑essential travel in remote areas, and stay updated with real‑time alerts. Agricultural officials also advised farmers to protect vulnerable crops and livestock from the sudden chill and precipitation.
