Rainfall combined with snowfall has pushed temperatures across Uttarakhand to sub‑zero levels, prompting weather alerts.
The Uttarakhand meteorological department said that widespread rain and snowfall on the hills have caused temperatures to fall below 0°C in several districts.
The sudden cold snap has raised concerns for farmers, as frost can damage standing crops, and for commuters on mountain roads where icy conditions may hamper travel.
State officials have issued cold‑weather advisories, urging residents to take precautionary measures and monitoring the situation for any further deterioration.
Authorities are also coordinating with disaster‑management teams to ensure that any emerging hazards, such as landslides, are addressed promptly.
