Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw launched the Dohrighat–Aunrihar Passenger train from the virtual platform of Akashvani, marking a new addition to the regional rail network.
The Dohrighat–Aunrihar Passenger train was inaugurated on a virtual flag‑off ceremony conducted by Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw via Akashvani on 10 July 2026.
The train will connect Dohrighat in the Varanasi district with Aunrihar in the Ghazipur district, covering a distance of approximately 70 kilometres. It is expected to run twice daily, providing a convenient and affordable option for commuters in the region.
During the virtual launch, Minister Vaishnaw highlighted the importance of expanding rail connectivity to support local economies and reduce road traffic congestion. He also mentioned that the new service would enhance accessibility to educational and healthcare facilities for residents of both districts.
The Dohrighat–Aunrihar Passenger is part of the Ministry’s broader plan to increase passenger services on lesser‑served routes, aiming to boost ridership and improve overall network efficiency.
