Indian Railways has announced cancellation of the Ranchi‑Delhi Poor Rath Express and several other services on October 10 due to anticipated road congestion around major Delhi stations.
The Ministry of Railways issued a notice on Monday indicating that several long‑distance trains, including the Ranchi‑Delhi Poor Rath Express, will not run on October 10. The move comes as authorities anticipate heavy vehicular traffic around key railway stations in Delhi on the day, which could disrupt passenger movement and safety.
Officials cited the expected buildup of private and commercial vehicles near stations such as New Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin and Anand Vihar as the primary reason for the cancellations. The railways have advised travelers to check the official website or mobile app for updated schedules and to consider alternative routes or modes of transport.
The decision affects both reserved and unreserved passengers, with refunds to be processed automatically for booked tickets. The railways also urged commuters to plan ahead and avoid last‑minute travel to Delhi on the specified date.
This pre‑emptive action reflects a broader effort to manage urban congestion during peak travel periods, especially when large crowds are expected around major transport hubs.
Travelers seeking further assistance can contact the railway helpline or visit the nearest reservation counter for guidance on rebooking options.
