Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated the newly completed 56‑kilometre Sabalgarh‑Birpur railway stretch in Madhya Pradesh, enhancing connectivity in the region.

The inauguration ceremony was held in Madhya Pradesh as Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw officially opened the 56‑kilometre Sabalgarh‑Birpur rail section. The new stretch links the towns of Sabalgarh and Birpur, extending the existing network in the state.

The line, built under the Ministry of Railways' recent push to improve regional connectivity, is expected to reduce travel time for passengers and freight moving between northern and central parts of Madhya Pradesh. Officials said the project will also facilitate smoother movement of agricultural produce and industrial goods.

Speaking at the event, Minister Vaishnaw highlighted the strategic importance of the corridor for economic development, noting that better rail links can attract investment and create jobs in the surrounding districts. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to completing pending railway projects across the country.

The Sabalgarh‑Birpur section forms part of a broader plan to upgrade infrastructure in underserved areas, complementing other ongoing projects such as gauge conversion and new line constructions in the state.
