Railway Board Recommends Premature Retirement of 5 Officers Over Corruption Concerns

The Railway Board has recommended the early retirement of five Group A officers, citing corruption, lack of integrity and inefficiency. The move follows a 2022 wave that saw 32 officers dismissed for similar reasons.

The Railway Board has put forward a recommendation for the premature retirement of five Group A officers, citing corruption, lack of integrity and inefficiency within the service. The five officers comprise two senior administrative grade and three junior administrative grade officials.

The recommendation was made under provisions of the Indian Railway Establishment Code, which allows the Board to take disciplinary action against officers who fail to meet the required standards of conduct and performance. The Board’s decision reflects a continued effort to curb malpractices in the railway administration.

This action follows a similar move in 2022 when 32 officers were retired for comparable reasons. The 2022 wave was part of a broader initiative to strengthen accountability across the railway sector.

While the Board has not yet finalized the retirements, the recommendation signals a firm stance against corruption and a push for higher integrity standards in Indian Railways.
