A planned visit by Rahul Gandhi to Goa has been delayed after members of the INDIA opposition bloc staged protests.
Rahul Gandhi, a senior leader of the Congress party, had scheduled a visit to the coastal state of Goa next week.
The trip was called off after activists from the INDIA alliance staged demonstrations at several points in the state, creating a tense atmosphere.
Party officials said the decision was taken to ensure the safety of the leader and to avoid any further escalation of the protests.
No new date for the visit has been announced, and the postponement comes as political activity intensifies ahead of upcoming elections.
