Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi criticised the Bihar administration, saying the issues raised by BPSC protestors go beyond the use of batons by police.
Rahul Gandhi addressed a gathering in Patna, condemning the Bihar government's response to the recent Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) protests. He argued that the concerns of the protestors are not limited to the police's use of batons, but reflect deeper administrative grievances.
The opposition leader highlighted that the BPSC staff had taken to the streets demanding better working conditions and transparency in recruitment processes. He accused the state administration of resorting to force rather than engaging in dialogue with the aggrieved employees.
Gandhi urged the chief minister to initiate a transparent inquiry into the handling of the protests and to address the underlying issues raised by the commission's employees. He reiterated that democratic dissent should be met with discussion, not intimidation.
The Bihar government has not yet issued a formal response to Gandhi's remarks, but officials have previously defended the police action as necessary to maintain law and order during the demonstrations.
