Punjab's 'Mission Clean Punjab' Launched by Health Minister in Patiala

The Punjab government inaugurated the 'Mission Clean Punjab' campaign in Patiala, with the state's Health Minister presiding over the launch.
Punjab's Health Ministry officially kicked off the "Mission Clean Punjab" initiative on Saturday in Patiala. The launch ceremony was attended by the state's Health Minister, who highlighted the program's focus on improving sanitation, waste management, and public hygiene across the state.
The mission aims to mobilise municipal bodies, community groups, and private partners to clean streets, remove illegal dumping, and promote awareness about health hazards linked to poor cleanliness. Officials said the program will be rolled out in phases, targeting high‑density urban areas first before extending to rural districts.
The Health Minister emphasized that cleaner environments are essential for reducing disease burden and enhancing overall public health. The government plans to allocate dedicated funds and deploy additional sanitation workers to ensure sustained implementation.
Local authorities in Patiala have already begun pilot activities, including street sweeping, installation of waste segregation bins, and public outreach campaigns in schools and neighborhoods. The ministry will monitor progress through regular audits and community feedback mechanisms.
The launch marks a coordinated effort by the state to align sanitation improvements with broader health objectives, aiming to create a healthier, more livable Punjab for its residents.
