The Kaumi Insaf Morcha announced a statewide shutdown on August 21 from 7 am to 2 pm, urging closure of schools, markets and highways as a protest for the release of detained Sikhs.

On August 21, the Kaumi Insaf Morcha has called for a complete shutdown across Punjab, scheduled to run from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. The protest aims to pressure authorities for the release of Sikhs who have been detained in recent weeks.

The organizers have appealed to the public to keep schools, colleges, universities, markets, shops, commercial establishments and highways non‑operational during the specified hours. Normal vehicular movement on major roads is also expected to be halted to underscore the demonstration.

The shutdown will be implemented statewide, covering urban and rural areas alike. While the protest is intended to be peaceful, the group has asked law‑enforcement agencies to ensure order and to facilitate the march without interference.

As of now, the state government has not issued an official response to the shutdown call, and officials are monitoring the situation ahead of the scheduled protest.
