Punjab's state administration has approved a revision of the Dearness Allowance (DA) applicable to government employees who were recruited on the Central pay scales in July 2020. The DA component, which is periodically adjusted to offset the impact of rising consumer prices, had not been revised for this cohort since their recruitment. By updating the allowance, the government seeks to ensure that the real purchasing power of these employees is maintained.
