The Punjab government announced a revision of the Dearness Allowance for employees hired under the Central pay scales in July 2020.
Punjab's state administration has approved a revision of the Dearness Allowance (DA) applicable to government employees who were recruited on the Central pay scales in July 2020. The decision was taken during a recent meeting of senior officials and is aimed at aligning the allowance with current inflation trends.
The DA component, which is periodically adjusted to offset the impact of rising consumer prices, had not been revised for this cohort since their recruitment. By updating the allowance, the government seeks to ensure that the real purchasing power of these employees is maintained.
The finance department will circulate detailed guidelines on the revised rates and the effective date to all concerned departments. Employees are expected to see the change reflected in their next salary cycle.
No additional financial measures were announced alongside the DA revision, and the state government indicated that the adjustment is part of its routine wage review process.
