In the latest NITI Aayog report, Punjab earned 49 points for private EV registrations, 15 for commercial, and 67 for government initiatives, placing the state 16th overall.

The National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog) has released its latest assessment of electric vehicle (EV) adoption across Indian states. Punjab has secured the 16th position overall, according to the report.

In the private EV registration category, Punjab scored 49 points, while its commercial EV registration tally stood at 15. The state performed better in the government initiatives segment, earning 67 points.

The ranking reflects Punjab’s progress in promoting EVs, yet highlights the gap between private and commercial adoption. The report, covering 28 states and union territories, aims to benchmark performance and guide policy actions.

Amar Ujala reports that the NITI Aayog assessment will help Punjab’s policymakers identify areas for improvement and accelerate the transition to electric mobility.
