Punjab has announced a one‑day holiday for all schools on 28 September to mark Shaheed Bhagat Singh Jayanti, the birth anniversary of the iconic freedom fighter. The decision applies to government, private and aided institutions across the state, ensuring that students and staff enjoy a uniform break.
The observance honors Bhagat Singh’s contribution to India’s independence movement and is traditionally marked with flag hoisting, cultural programmes and educational activities in schools and public spaces. While classrooms will be closed, authorities have encouraged students to use the day for reading about Singh’s life or participating in community events.
