Authorities recovered 6 kg 255 g of heroin and a motorcycle in Firozpur, linking the shipment to a drone drop from Pakistan, and detained two suspects.
Police in Firozpur, Punjab, uncovered a major drug haul when they seized more than six kilograms of heroin from a suspect's possession. The seizure included 6 kg 255 g of the narcotic and a motorcycle that was believed to be used for its transport.
Investigators traced the origin of the heroin to Pakistan, stating that the drug was delivered to Indian territory via a low‑altitude drone. The aerial drop method underscores a growing trend in cross‑border smuggling routes.
During the operation, two individuals were taken into custody. Both suspects are being interrogated, and further forensic analysis of the seized items is underway to identify additional links in the trafficking network.
The Punjab police have highlighted the bust as a significant step in curbing narcotics inflow from neighboring countries, and they have pledged continued vigilance against similar drone‑based deliveries.
