Punjab Police reshuffle: Gurpreet Singh Bhullar named IG Border Range, Amritsar

The Punjab government has transferred 20 senior officers, appointing Gurpreet Singh Bhullar as Inspector General of the Border Range in Amritsar, while Harmanbir Singh becomes the city’s Police Commissioner.
Punjab’s police hierarchy underwent a major reshuffle as the state administration moved twenty senior officers to new postings. The changes are part of a broader effort to strengthen law‑enforcement coordination along the state’s border districts.
Effective immediately, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar has been elevated to the post of Inspector General of the Border Range, Amritsar, succeeding Harmanbir Singh. In the same order, Harmanbir Singh has been assigned the role of Police Commissioner of Amritsar, taking charge of the city’s overall policing strategy.
The reassignments are expected to bring fresh perspectives to border security and urban policing, though officials have not disclosed any specific operational plans at this stage. The Punjab Police spokesperson confirmed the appointments and indicated that the remaining transfers will be communicated through official channels.
