Punjab police, in coordination with army intelligence, arrested Gurpreet Singh alias Gora and his wife Harmanpreet Kaur from the border village of Kalu Wala, accusing them of transmitting defence information to Pakistan's ISI.
Punjab's law enforcement and army intelligence launched a joint operation on Tuesday, targeting a suspected ISI network operating from the border hamlet of Kalu Wala (also known as Jalal Wala). The operation resulted in the arrest of Gurpreet Singh, identified as "Gora," and his wife Harmanpreet Kaur. Investigators allege that the couple acted as couriers, relaying sensitive military data to Pakistan's Inter‑Services Intelligence agency.
According to officials, the couple maintained contacts with handlers across the border and used covert channels to transmit information about troop movements and defence installations. The arrests were made after a weeks‑long surveillance and interception effort that linked the duo to multiple intelligence breaches.
Authorities have seized electronic devices, encrypted files, and communication logs from the pair's residence. Both individuals are being held for further interrogation, and the case has been handed over to the anti‑terrorism court in Amritsar for trial. The police have warned that any similar espionage activities will be dealt with severely to safeguard national security.
