The Punjab minister, together with Jalandhar’s mayor and deputy commissioner, participated in a Mission Clean initiative, physically sweeping streets to promote civic hygiene.
Jalandhar, Punjab – On Monday, the state’s minister responsible for the Mission Clean programme joined the city’s mayor and deputy commissioner in a hands‑on cleanliness drive. The trio was seen sweeping a busy market lane, underscoring the government’s push for better waste management and public participation.
Officials said the event is part of a broader effort to keep urban spaces litter‑free ahead of upcoming municipal audits. By taking up brooms themselves, the leaders aim to set a visible example for residents and local businesses.
The initiative also includes regular street‑cleaning schedules, increased placement of dustbins, and community awareness campaigns. Authorities hope the symbolic act will translate into sustained behavioural change among citizens.
No injuries were reported, and the participants concluded the activity with a brief address encouraging people to keep the city clean.
