Police in Jammu detained two men from Punjab after discovering a pistol, cash and heroin in their possession.
Jammu police have taken into custody two individuals hailing from Punjab following a raid that uncovered a loaded pistol, a substantial amount of cash and a quantity of heroin. The arrest took place in the city of Jammu, according to reports from local media.
The seized items included a short‑range firearm, unaccounted cash and packaged narcotics identified as heroin. Authorities have logged the evidence and are conducting forensic analysis to determine the source and intended distribution network.
Investigators said the two suspects are being questioned about possible links to broader drug‑trafficking operations across state borders. The case is being forwarded to the crime branch for further inquiry, and the seized contraband will be handed over to the relevant enforcement agencies.
The incident underscores ongoing concerns about cross‑state smuggling routes that exploit the porous borders between Punjab and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
