The Punjab and Haryana High Court criticised the Punjab government for attempting to contest its judgment through social media posts, emphasizing that court orders cannot be challenged on Twitter.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday admonished the Punjab state administration for using Twitter to contest its recent judgment in a DA (deemed‑as‑approved) case. The bench held that court orders are binding and cannot be undermined through social media platforms.

The bench’s observation came after the state government posted a series of tweets questioning the legal reasoning behind the decision, prompting the court to intervene. The judges reminded the executive that the rule of law supersedes any attempt to sway public opinion via digital channels.

Legal experts noted that such a rebuke underscores the judiciary’s intent to preserve the sanctity of its rulings and prevent the erosion of judicial authority in the age of instant online communication. The Punjab government has not yet issued a formal response to the court’s remarks.
