Punjab & Haryana HC rules Yaarian 2 song showing kirpan not an insult to Sikhism

The Punjab and Haryana High Court examined a petition alleging that a song from the Punjabi movie “Yaarian 2” offended Sikh religious sentiments. The petition claimed that the visual of a non‑Amritdhari actor wearing a kirpan was disrespectful. In its judgment, the bench concluded that the depiction was part of artistic expression and did not intend to insult Sikhism. The court noted that the kirpan, while a religious article, can be shown in a neutral context without violating the law. Accordingly, the petition was dismissed and the song cleared of any religious offence.
