Punjab Govt & MLAs Summoned by Akal Takht Over Blasphemy Law

Representatives from the Punjab government, including nine ministers and 49 MLAs, are scheduled to appear before the Sri Akal Takht Sahib today to present their stance on the Jagat Jyot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act-2026.
The temporal seat of Sikhism, Sri Akal Takht Sahib, has summoned representatives of the Punjab government and elected officials. The assembly is slated to take place today at the Akal Takht.
The delegation is expected to include nine ministers and 49 Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) from Punjab. Their appearance is in response to a summons issued by the Akal Takht.
The primary agenda for this meeting is to allow the Punjab government and the MLAs to present their perspective and arguments concerning the Jagat Jyot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act-2026, also known as the blasphemy law.
