After a re‑exam, students from Punjab’s government schools have now qualified for the NEET exam, with the number of qualifiers exceeding 880 – a figure that represents a doubling over the past two years.
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) has once again proven to be a pivotal milestone for students across India, and Punjab’s government schools have shown remarkable progress. Following a re‑exam held earlier this month, the number of students who cleared the NEET cut‑off has risen to over 880, a figure that is double the count recorded two years ago.
The state education department highlighted that the increase is largely due to intensified coaching, better resource allocation, and a focused curriculum that aligns with NEET’s demands. Officials also noted that the re‑exam provided a second chance for many aspirants who had narrowly missed the cut‑off in the initial attempt.
“We are proud of the dedication shown by our students and teachers,” said the Punjab Education Minister. “This surge in qualifiers reflects the effectiveness of our recent educational reforms and the resilience of our students.”
The rise in NEET qualifiers is expected to boost the state’s representation in national medical colleges and could inspire further investment in science and health education across Punjab’s government schools.
