The Punjab administration approved an 8% increase in dearness allowance for its staff, prompting the conclusion of a three‑week long strike.

Punjab's state government announced an eight percent hike in dearness allowance (DA) for its employees, a move aimed at addressing long‑standing wage concerns. The decision was taken after a three‑week agitation by government staff who had been demanding a higher cost‑of‑living adjustment. Following the announcement, the striking employees called off the protest and returned to work, signalling the end of the standoff. Officials said the revised DA will be implemented as per the new government order, providing immediate relief to the workforce.
