Punjab state employees have prolonged their strike until September 11, demanding pending inflation allowance, full OPS implementation and regularisation of contract staff, while the state government has offered to negotiate.
State employees in Punjab have announced that their industrial action will continue until September 11. The workers are pressing for the release of a pending 18% inflation allowance, the full rollout of the Old Pension Scheme, settlement of salary and other allowance arrears, and the regularisation of temporary and contract staff.
The Punjab government responded by extending an invitation to dialogue, signalling a willingness to discuss the grievances. Officials said the offer aims to resolve the dispute without further disruption to public services.
Union representatives welcomed the gesture but reiterated that any settlement must address all outstanding demands, especially the backdated dearness allowance and pension reforms. The strike, which began earlier this month, has already affected several departmental functions across the state.
Both sides have agreed to meet in the coming days, with the hope of reaching a mutually acceptable solution before the September 11 deadline.
