Punjab’s Counter‑Intelligence unit in Amritsar intercepted a vehicle carrying more than 47 kg of heroin, recovered weapons and detained four young men, while three alleged drug traffickers were also arrested.
Punjab’s Counter‑Intelligence team operating out of Amritsar conducted a major raid on a vehicle suspected of transporting illicit narcotics. The operation resulted in the recovery of over 47 kilograms of heroin concealed within the car.
During the seizure, authorities also discovered firearms and ammunition, leading to the detention of four young men found in the vehicle. All four were taken into custody on charges of possession of illegal narcotics and unlicensed weapons.
Investigators linked the haul to a cross‑border drug‑smuggling network that has been active in the region. The team apprehended three individuals identified as key operatives in the trafficking ring, further disrupting the supply chain.
Police officials said the successful interdiction underscores the effectiveness of coordinated intelligence efforts and will serve as a deterrent to similar criminal activities in the state.
