The Punjab unit of the Congress party staged a demonstration against rising prices, offering sugar‑free tea to participants and announcing a march to the Governor’s House.

Earlier this week the Punjab Congress organised a protest to highlight public frustration over the recent surge in consumer prices. Party workers gathered at a central location in the state, displaying banners that demanded immediate action from the government to curb inflation.
As part of the demonstration, volunteers served sugar‑free tea to attendees, a symbolic gesture meant to underscore the impact of rising costs on everyday household expenses.
The party also announced that a larger contingent will march to the Governor’s House later in the week, seeking a direct audience with the state’s constitutional head to press for relief measures.
Congress leaders said the protest aims to pressure the state administration to implement price‑stabilisation policies and to protect vulnerable consumers.
The move has drawn attention from other political groups, though no official response from the Governor’s office has been reported yet.
