Congress MLA Randhawa claimed that officers of the border range police have been in contact with criminal gangs and lodged a formal complaint with Punjab’s Governor, warning that the DGP could file a case if the allegation proves false.

Punjab Congress senior leader Randhawa, after meeting the state Governor, publicly alleged that officers from the border‑range police have been meeting with known criminal gangs. He said the allegation is made with his full responsibility and that a written complaint has been submitted to the Governor's office.

In the same statement, Randhawa warned that should the claim be disproved, the Director General of Police of Punjab may initiate legal action against him. No immediate response has been recorded from the police hierarchy or the Governor’s secretariat.

The accusation surfaces at a time when law‑and‑order concerns in Punjab’s border districts are under scrutiny, with organised crime frequently cited as a challenge for the state administration. The Congress party has not issued a separate comment, but the allegation adds political pressure ahead of the upcoming electoral cycle.
