Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced the disbursement of the Mawan‑Dhiyaan Satkar Yojana installment, crediting 36.87 lakh women’s bank accounts. He warned that opposition parties could halt benefits if they come to power.

The Mawan‑Dhiyaan Satkar Yojana, a welfare scheme aimed at empowering mothers and daughters, saw its latest installment released today by Punjab’s Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The government credited 36.87 lakh women’s bank accounts with the scheduled amount, marking a significant step in the state’s gender‑focused development agenda.

The disbursement, which took place on Thursday, was part of the state’s ongoing effort to provide monthly financial support to women across rural and urban areas. According to official figures, the scheme has already benefited over 3.6 million women since its launch.

During the announcement, Mann also took the opportunity to criticize opposition parties, including the Congress, BJP and Akali Dal. He cautioned that if any of these parties were to come to power, they might discontinue the monthly stipend, free electricity, and free bus travel benefits that the scheme currently offers.

The CM’s remarks come as the state prepares for upcoming elections, with the government emphasizing its commitment to continuing welfare programmes for women and warning that political shifts could jeopardise these gains.
