Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will inaugurate the foundation stone ceremony for a new water‑treatment plant in Baradwal village, Sangrur, today.

Punjab's chief minister, Bhagwant Mann, arrived in Baradwal village of Sangrur district this morning to lay the foundation stone of a water‑treatment plant slated for the region. The ceremony was attended by local officials and community representatives, and a press conference was scheduled immediately afterwards.

The plant aims to provide safe drinking water to Baradwal and neighboring villages, addressing long‑standing concerns over water quality in the area. State officials said the project will be executed under the existing water‑supply scheme and will incorporate modern purification technology.

During the press briefing, CM Mann emphasized the government's commitment to improving rural infrastructure and highlighted that the facility will reduce dependence on contaminated sources. He also promised timely completion, noting that similar projects have been successfully delivered in other parts of Punjab.

Punjab continues to grapple with groundwater contamination and seasonal water scarcity. The new treatment unit is expected to serve as a model for similar interventions across the state, reinforcing the administration's focus on public health and sustainable water management.
