The Punjab state cabinet has cleared three foodgrain policies aimed at boosting Kharif 2026‑27 production.
The Punjab cabinet met this week and gave its nod to three fresh foodgrain policies that will take effect for the Kharif 2026‑27 season. The measures are intended to strengthen the state's foodgrain sector ahead of the upcoming sowing period. While the exact details were not disclosed, officials indicated that the policies will address key issues such as procurement mechanisms, price support and storage infrastructure, with a view to improving farmer incomes and ensuring food security. The state agriculture department has been tasked with rolling out the schemes before the start of the Kharif sowing cycle. Authorities said the initiatives are in line with central government objectives and will be closely monitored for impact.
