The Maharashtra government has earmarked ₹1,826 crore to upgrade 75 kilometres of roads in Pune’s Chakan and Hinjewadi areas, boosting connectivity for the industrial and residential zones.
The state government announced a ₹1,826 crore infrastructure package aimed at upgrading 75 kilometres of roads in the Chakan and Hinjewadi localities of Pune. The funding will focus on widening lanes, improving drainage, and installing better lighting to accommodate the growing traffic from industrial parks and residential developments.
Chakan, a major industrial hub, and Hinjewadi, home to the Pune IT corridor, have long faced congestion and road maintenance challenges. The new investment is expected to reduce travel times and enhance safety for commuters and freight operators.
The project will be executed in phases, with the first phase targeting the most congested stretches. Local authorities have said that the work will begin next month, with a completion target of 18 months.
Officials highlighted that the upgrade will also support future economic growth by improving logistics and attracting more businesses to the region.
