Protest Under MLA Karemmma G. Nayak’s Leadership Against Relocation of Chikkahonnekuni Irrigation Office: Govindaraj Thimmapur
Jalahalli, Sept. 27: A large-scale protest will be organized under the leadership of MLA Smt. Karemmma G. Nayak against the proposed relocation of the Chikkahonnekuni Irrigation Department office, said Govindaraj Nayak Thimmapur, Taluk General Secretary of the JDS ST Morcha.
Speaking at a JDS preparatory meeting and press conference held at the Jalahalli Inspection Bungalow on Sunday, he demanded that the Chikkahonnekuni Irrigation Office, which is convenient for farmers, should not be shifted under any circumstances.
He said the protest would also raise demands for uninterrupted power supply to farmers’ pump sets and immediate crediting of crop compensation to farmers’ bank accounts.
A large number of farmers and JDS workers from various villages in the constituency are expected to participate in the protest. A padayatra will be held from Jahiruddin Pasha Circle to Ambedkar Circle in Devadurga, he said.
JDS leader Venkat Reddy Benakan said that MLA Karemmma G. Nayak has been continuously fighting for farmers’ interests and appealed to farmers across the taluk to participate in large numbers and extend their support to the protest.
