Private hospitals in Madhya Pradesh have halted participation in the Ayushman Bharat scheme, citing pending payments and recently introduced regulations.
Several private hospitals across Madhya Pradesh announced a boycott of the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme, alleging that the state government has not cleared outstanding dues owed to them for services rendered under the program. The hospitals say the delayed payments are affecting their cash flow and ability to provide quality care.
In addition to financial grievances, the hospitals object to recent rule changes that they claim impose stricter documentation and higher compliance costs without adequate consultation. Hospital administrators have organized protests and written to the state health department demanding immediate settlement of arrears and a review of the new guidelines.
The state health ministry has responded that it is reviewing the concerns and will engage with the hospital representatives to resolve the dispute. Meanwhile, patients enrolled under Ayushman Bharat in the affected facilities may face interruptions in treatment until the impasse is settled.
