A pregnant woman in Umaria endured severe pain for almost an hour while waiting for an ambulance that never arrived, prompting her relatives to transport her by car to the district hospital.

Umaria, Madhya Pradesh – A woman in labor experienced intense abdominal pain and waited close to sixty minutes for an ambulance that failed to reach her location. When the emergency vehicle did not appear, her family took a private pickup and covered the 15-kilometre distance to the nearest district hospital.

Upon arrival, the family found the hospital gate unattended, with no staff to receive patients. Undeterred, they manually unloaded the woman from the vehicle and carried her inside for medical attention.

Local authorities have not yet commented on the delay in ambulance response or the lack of personnel at the hospital entrance. The incident highlights ongoing concerns about emergency medical services and staffing in rural parts of the state.

Health officials are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the failed ambulance dispatch and the apparent staffing gap at the hospital gate, aiming to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

The woman's condition and the outcome of her delivery have not been disclosed pending further medical updates.
