Political strategist Prashant Kishor has called on the Muslim community in Bihar to actively demand equitable representation in state politics.

Political strategist Prashant Kishor told India Today that Muslims in Bihar need to organise themselves and press for a proportionate share of political power. He said the community’s voice must be heard in candidate selection, party alliances and policy formulation.

Bihar’s Muslim population, which accounts for around 17% of the state’s electorate, has historically been under‑represented in the legislative assembly and cabinet. Kishor highlighted that demographic weight alone does not guarantee seats unless the community mobilises around clear demands.

The remarks come ahead of the next state assembly elections, where parties are courting minority votes. Kishor urged Muslim leaders and civil‑society groups to formulate a unified agenda, engage with political parties and monitor candidate nominations to ensure fair representation.

He added that a strategic, issue‑based approach would strengthen the community’s bargaining power and contribute to more inclusive governance in Bihar.
