Voting has begun for eight seats in the Bihar Legislative Council, with a total of 150 candidates filing nominations.
The Election Commission has opened polls for eight Legislative Council seats across Bihar, marking a busy phase in the state's upper house elections. A total of 150 candidates have entered the fray, representing a mix of party-backed contenders and independents. Election officials report that polling stations are witnessing steady voter turnout from the designated electorates, which include local body representatives and members of the Legislative Assembly.
The high number of aspirants underscores the competitive nature of Bihar's MLC elections, where each seat can influence the balance of power in the council. Party workers are actively campaigning, urging their respective voting groups to support their nominees. The commission has deployed additional staff and security personnel to ensure a smooth voting process.
Results for the eight seats are expected to be announced in the coming weeks, after the counting of votes from the various electoral colleges. The outcome will shape the composition of the Legislative Council ahead of the next legislative session.
