Authorities have issued a warning after a group was found stopping motorists on the Mangalore and South Karnataka highways, claiming to offer engine‑cooling devices for a fee of ₹800‑₹1,000.

Coastal police in Karnataka have cautioned commuters about a newly identified scam operating on the Mangalore and Dakshina Kannada highways. The scheme involves a team that halts bikers under the pretext of police inspection and offers a so‑called engine‑cooling device.

According to the police, the perpetrators approach riders, claim that the device can prevent engine overheating, and then demand payment ranging from ₹800 to ₹1,000. Victims are left without any functional equipment after the transaction.

Police have urged travelers to avoid stopping for unsolicited offers and to report any such incidents to the nearest police station. Enforcement teams are reportedly increasing patrols on the affected stretches to deter the fraudsters and protect commuters.
