A BJP Yuva Morcha rally heading to the Kerala Assembly in Thiruvananthapuram turned tense when police fired tear‑gas shells, citing concerns over a CMRL‑related dispute.

The youth wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party organised a march towards the Kerala Legislative Assembly in Thiruvananthapuram. As the procession approached the assembly complex, law‑enforcement personnel intervened, deploying tear‑gas canisters to disperse the crowd.
Police officials said the action was taken to prevent a potential breach of security linked to an ongoing controversy involving the Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) case, which has been a flashpoint in the state.
The tear‑gas deployment caused the rally to stall, with participants retreating amid coughing and panic. No serious injuries were reported, and the police later secured the area and restored order.
Both the BJP Yuva Morcha and local authorities have yet to release detailed statements, but the incident underscores rising tensions over the CMRL matter in Kerala's political landscape.
