Police seize over ₹2 lakh worth of illicit liquor near Khatanba, Dewas

Under an anti‑illicit liquor drive, BN P police confiscated a large stock of domestic and foreign liquor worth more than ₹2 lakh from a house near Khatanba in Dewas district.
Police officials from the BN P police station carried out a raid on a residential property located near Khatanba in Dewas district as part of a statewide crackdown on illegal liquor trade. The operation resulted in the seizure of a substantial quantity of both locally produced and imported alcoholic beverages.
According to the police report, the confiscated liquor is valued at more than two lakh rupees. The exact volume was not disclosed, but officials described the haul as "large" and indicated that the stock included a mix of domestic spirits and foreign brands that were being stored for illicit distribution.
The seizure comes amid intensified efforts by Madhya Pradesh authorities to curb the circulation of unlicensed alcohol, which has been linked to health hazards and loss of revenue for the state excise department. Investigators have opened a case against the occupants of the house and are probing the supply chain to identify other participants in the network.
