On October 24, 2026, law‑enforcement officials in Guwahati confiscated a significant quantity of illegal narcotics, marking a major drug‑related operation in Assam.
Guwahati police announced on Monday that a large haul of illegal drugs was seized during a raid conducted on October 24, 2026. The operation took place in the city’s outskirts, where law‑enforcement teams intercepted a shipment suspected to be bound for distribution across the state.
The seizure forms part of a broader anti‑narcotics drive that state authorities have intensified over the past year. While officials did not disclose the exact type or weight of the substances, they described the haul as one of the most substantial in recent months.
Investigators have opened a case to trace the source and network behind the shipment, and they said further arrests could follow as the probe progresses. The successful interception is being hailed as a positive step in curbing drug trafficking in Assam.
