Police in Jashpur district, Chhattisgarh, recovered 440 kg of cannabis concealed inside chilli sacks and detained two suspects.
Chhattisgarh police conducting a routine check in Jashpur district uncovered a massive drug haul, seizing 440 kilograms of cannabis that had been packed inside sacks of chilli. The contraband was discovered at a storage point on the outskirts of the district town, where the sacks were being prepared for market distribution.
Investigators said the narcotics were carefully wrapped in plastic and placed beneath the chilli bags to evade detection. The operation, led by the district’s narcotics cell, resulted in the arrest of two individuals who were identified as the primary handlers of the shipment.
Both detainees have been forwarded to the district court, where they face charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Authorities indicated that further inquiries will focus on tracing the source of the cannabis and any larger network involved in its transport across state lines.
