A raid in Kanhuli market, Bihata, Patna uncovered 420 fake Spark slippers along with thousands of boxes and wrappers.
Patna police launched a surprise operation in the Kanhuli market of Bihata police station on Wednesday, targeting a workshop suspected of producing counterfeit branded footwear. Investigators recovered 420 pairs of slippers bearing the Spark logo, which is a registered trademark of the footwear company.
In addition to the fake slippers, authorities seized 240 unfinished pairs, 220 cardboard boxes printed with the brand's insignia, and 250 plastic wrappers used for packaging. The seizure suggests a sizable counterfeit operation aimed at supplying the local market with unauthorised products.
Police have filed a case under the Indian Trade Marks Act and the Prevention of Unlawful Activities Act. The seized items will be handed over to the brand's legal team for further action, and the workshop owners are being interrogated for possible links to larger smuggling networks.
The crackdown is part of a broader effort by the Bihar police to curb the sale of counterfeit goods, which not only infringe intellectual property rights but also pose safety risks to consumers.
