Police ram vehicle to seize 200 kg of doda chura in Salumber, Rajasthan

Rajasthan police stopped a smuggler’s truck that broke a roadblock in Salumber, recovering about 200 kg of doda chura and a pistol after ramming the vehicle.
Salumber, Rajasthan – On Saturday, police set up a checkpoint on a highway leading out of the town when a truck carrying a large consignment of doda chura attempted to breach the barrier. The driver accelerated through the blockade, prompting officers to intervene by deliberately colliding with the vehicle to bring it to a halt.
The forced stop allowed the police to search the truck, where they uncovered roughly 200 kilograms of doda chura, a smokeless tobacco product that is illegal to transport in bulk without proper licensing. In addition, a pistol was recovered from the vehicle, raising concerns about the possible link between tobacco smuggling and illicit arms.
Investigators have taken the seized contraband and the firearm into evidence and have opened a case under the state's narcotics and weapons statutes. The incident underscores the ongoing challenge of curbing organized smuggling networks that operate across Rajasthan’s borders, and police have said they will continue to enforce strict checks on similar cargoes.
